Purpose/Jurisdiction #
“The committee on GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT that shall have cognizance of all matters relating to (A) (i) the administrative functions of the Office of Governmental Accountability, including the office’s personnel and employment policies and information technology, (ii) the Freedom of Information Commission, the Office of State Ethics, the Citizen’s Ethics Advisory Board and the State Elections Enforcement Commission, and (iii) the Auditors of Public Accounts, and (B) the sale, transfer or other disposition of any real property or interest in real property that is under the custody or control of a state agency. Any bill favorably reported by another committee that requires a state agency to sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of any real property or interest in real property that is under the custody or control of such agency to any person or entity other than another state agency, shall be referred to the committee on Government Oversight. Any hearing conducted by the committee on Government Oversight on any report issued by the Auditors of Public Accounts, any other audit or investigation report concerning any quasi-public agency or agency or department of the state or on any statutory program shall be in accordance with the provisions of Rule 18” (committee website).

“It shall be responsible for the operation of the General Assembly, coordination and supervision of committee work, improvement of legislative operations and deciding on matters of organization, procedures, facilities and working conditions of the General Assembly and compensation of employees of the legislative branch. All bills and resolutions relating to such matters shall be referred to said committee. The committee shall also have cognizance of legislative task forces and studies” (committee website).
